Equestrian Training for Service Personnel
At Warminster Saddle Club, we are proud of our long-standing connection with the Armed Forces and our role in promoting equestrianism within the military.
Our military courses are designed to help Service personnel develop and improve their riding, horse management skills and equestrian knowledge, while enjoying the physical and mental benefits that come from working with horses.
Riding provides an excellent opportunity to develop core stability, balance, coordination and physical fitness, while also encouraging many of the qualities that are fundamental to military life — including discipline, confidence, teamwork, responsibility, communication and resilience.
Our courses are suitable for all levels of riding ability, from complete beginners through to experienced riders looking to develop their technical skills.
Accommodation is included in the course price for Military Personnel.
🐴 Beginners' Course
Our Beginners' Course is designed for those who are new to riding or have limited experience in the saddle.
The course caters for a broad range of abilities, from those who have never ridden before through to riders who have begun to develop their cantering skills.
Riding sessions take place twice each day, alongside practical lessons in stable management and horse care.
The course provides an opportunity to develop confidence and riding skills while gaining a much better understanding of horses and their day-to-day care.
By the end of the course, participants will have developed their riding ability, increased their equine knowledge and gained a greater understanding of how to safely and confidently work with horses.
No previous riding experience is required.
🏇 Improvers' Course
Don't be put off by the name — every rider is an improver!
Our Improvers' Course is suitable for riders with existing experience, from those who are comfortable cantering and have some basic jumping experience, through to riders who are confidently jumping courses of approximately 2'6" and above.
The course introduces riders to more technical elements of riding and provides an opportunity to develop existing skills, improve confidence and progress towards greater accuracy and control.
Whether you are returning to riding after a break or looking to take your riding to the next level, our instructors will work with you to help you achieve your individual goals.
🎯 Bespoke Military Courses
Not every unit or group has the same requirements, which is why we are happy to develop bespoke courses tailored to your needs.
We work with military groups to create courses that are practical, enjoyable and rewarding, adapting the content, focus and duration to suit your requirements.
Courses can range from one day to one week, depending on the objectives of your group.
Whether you are looking to introduce personnel to riding, develop existing equestrian skills, focus on horse management or create a programme around specific training objectives, we are happy to discuss your requirements.
We pride ourselves on providing a friendly and flexible service and will work with you to create a course that meets the needs of your personnel.
Course numbers
Our military courses require a minimum of 4 riders, with 6 riders being the ideal group size.
If you have a group and would like to discuss a bespoke course, please get in touch for an informal conversation. We will be happy to discuss your requirements and see how we can help.
